When I became an Embrace Grace leader, I knew nothing about how to lead a group. But once I started, I never wanted to stop. I'm leading my third group now, and even though life is busy, I really cherish Tuesday nights with my brave girls. If you're passionate about something that you love, or you feel like God called you to it, He'll help you make room for it in your life. Once you show up and start doing it, everything falls into place and begins to take care of itself.
I was raised by a single mother, so leading Embrace Life allows me to serve out of the heart I have for single moms. Many moms who join are alone, and coming to our group gives them the space to step away from the responsibilities of motherhood to focus on themselves. I love the opportunity to support and speak life into our brave moms. They need that reminder that God sees them and they are not alone.
The Embrace Grace curriculum makes it easy. It's incredibly user-friendly. It literally comes with a video assigned to each week and corresponds with the leader and study guide. If you want, you can open the book and read the talking points and questions as they're written–it's that easy! And this is such a God thing. Most nights with the moms, the Holy Spirit is in the room, directing the conversation towards what they need to discuss and get off their hearts.
My favorite part about leading Embrace Life is reminding our brave girls that God sees you and, yes, He does love you. I really believe in my heart they feel God's love through us and through the bond they develop with each other. I remember a mom in my group that was contemplating having an abortion. She was having a very difficult pregnancy, but she attended class every week. She was so quiet and didn't say much. I could tell she had a hard time trusting people. One day, she brought me and my co-leader an envelope with the gender of her baby in it, and she said she wanted us to open it with her. I got to read the results and tell her she was having a baby boy! The whole group was there in support of her, and it was such a beautiful moment to see the impact of Embrace Grace in each of our mom's lives.
